Coldwell Estate Wines

The “Rose of Sharon” is our family-owned, certified sustainable and fully solar powered vineyard. Planted on an isolated ridge in the North Western corner of Kenton Valley, an area well known for orchards and premium wine grapes, high in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia.

We purpose built 5 vineyard blocks, each with it’s own individual aspect, soil and microclimate between 450 and 490 metres above sea level. Subsequently planted with specific clones of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Nebbiolo chosen to best suit each individual site.

Vines are carefully hand pruned and we utilise proven organic, biodynamic and, on occasion, conventional practices to grow the finest fruit. Grapes are meticulously hand picked and sorted to produce small batch, minimal intervention, limited release wines, directly reflecting our unique single vineyard site.

The different clonal wines are processed individually and offer different expressions of the same vineyard, each a lens on a unique site that contribute to assembling our flagship Estate Cuvee. The exact proportions of the clones are determined at Assemblage each year.

Our Estate Cuvee and limited Single Clone wines intend to express the climate, soils and ancient geology that are unique to Kenton Valley.

Our first wines aren’t yet available to purchase. The grapes have just been hand picked and sorted after enjoying the sunshine, gravelly clay loam soils, clean air and refreshing rains. Now maturing in Oak Barrels simply enjoying the passage of time.

Patience is rewarded. With no cellar door or external pressures we can make wine as the conditions suit and produce what is a truly hand crafted expression of our home.

Our Estate Pinot Noir, Estate Chardonnay and limited Single Clone wines will be available from August 2027.
